THE WORD OF CONGRESS, A Poem.
Tartaream intendit vocem.___Virgil.
The word of Congress, like a round of beef,
To hungry satire gives a sure relief,
No trifling tid-bits to delude the pen,
But solid victuals, cut and come again.
Whitfield 'tis said, this simile was thine;
Unapt for thy discourse, it suits with mine.
